Gravitational Collapse with Non–vanishing Tangential Stresses Ii: Extension to the Charged Case and General Solution

چکیده

The exact solutions of the Einstein field equations describing spherically symmetric, ani-sotropic elastic spheres supported only by tangential stresses are generalized to the case of materials carrying a non–vanishing charge density. Using the mass–area system of coordinates first proposed by Ori for dust models, the general solution is then reduced to a very simple form in which only an integral remains to be performed. As a consequence, a simple approach to the problem of existence and nature of singularities is outlined, and a conjecture on the nature of the central singularity is formulated and motivated on physical grounds. Gravitational Collapse with Non–vanishing Tangential Stresses Ii: a Laboratory for Cosmic Censorship Experiments

The general exact solution describing the dynamics of anisotropic elastic spheres supported only by tangential stresses is reduced to a quadrature using Ori’s mass–area coordinates. This leads to the explicit construction of the root equation governing the nature of the central singularity. Using this equation, we formulate and motivate on physical grounds a conjecture on the nature of this sin...

Radiating Collapse with Vanishing Weyl stresses

In a recent approach in modelling a radiating relativistic star undergoing gravitational collapse the role of the Weyl stresses was emphasised. It is possible to generate a model which is physically reasonable by approximately solving the junction conditions at the boundary of the star. In this paper we demonstrate that it is possible to solve the Einstein field equations and the junction condi...

Generalized Vaidya Solutions

A large family of solutions, representing, in general, spherically symmetric Type II fluid, is presented, which includes most of the known solutions to the Einstein field equations, such as, the monopolede Sitter-charged Vaidya ones. New Solutions of Einstein Equations in Spherical Symmetry: the Cosmic Censor to the Court

A new class of solutions of the Einstein field equations in spherical symmetry is found. The new solutions are mathematically described as the metrics admitting separation of variables in area-radius coordinates. Physically, they describe the gravitational collapse of a class of anisotropic elastic materials. Standard requirements of physical acceptability are satisfied, in particular, existenc...

A Metric Theory of Gravitation without Minimal Coupling of Matter and Gravitational Field

A metric theory of gravitation is suggested which reduces to Einstein's theory in the case of vanishing matter. If matter is present, in the Lagrangian formulation of the theory the principle of minimal coupling is given up by directly linking the matter variables to the curvature tensor. The theory contains a free parameter of dimension length. It is considered not to be a universal constant b...
